Rail
The Federal Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan includes 8 Rail Projects in NSW, with 6 of these projects located in the Hunter Valley Region. A major project already underway is the Minimbah Bank - Third Rail Line Project. Due for completion in 2012, this major infrastructure project involves both State and Federal Governments and is being implemented by the Australian Rail Track Corporation through the recently formed Hunter 8 Alliance
Telecommunications
The National Broadband Network will see $43 billion invested in delivering broadband coverage to 98% of Australia’s population. The NSW Government, through its Investing in A Better Future Program, has promised $15.7 billion over 4 years of capital investment in Energy Infrastructure with a dual focus on maintaining existing infrastructure and delivering new projects. Following years of crippling drought, Australia is only too aware of the necessity to effectively manage its water resource. The Australian Government’s Water Smart Australia program has stimulated investment in local water infrastructure. Major projects include the Mardi to Mangrove Link, an initiative of the Gosford Wyong Council’s Water Authority. This project involves over 20 kilometres of underground water pipeline. The Queensland Hunter Gas Pipeline is a $900 million investment delivering energy resources to Australia’s densely populated Eastern states.
